KNVB FC believes soccer is for everyone… so our INCLUSIVE SOCCER – SOCCER FOR ALL program will be for young athletes with intellectual, developmental or physical special needs. This program provides individuals with the opportunity to learn and play soccer in a safe, nurturing, and self-empowering environment. The goal of the program is to enable these young athletes to grow and develop physically, socially, and emotionally with the assistance of coaches and youth mentoring buddies. INCLUSIVE SOCCER – SOCCER FOR ALL is not for competition. Players are matched up by abilities and not age. INCLUSIVE SOCCER – SOCCER FOR ALL is for all youth ages and ability levels. Players enjoy the fun and excitement of soccer and learn some great skills along the way!
KNVB FC Lions is committed to supporting soccer players whose needs are not met by other clubs in programs. Our program is designed for players with special needs who may require modifications and accommodations to the game in order to fully participate. Players will learn how the game is played and develop sportsmanship, teamwork and soccer skills. Friendship, fun and participation will be emphasized.
The players will meet on the first Sunday of every month in the afternoon. There are no weekday practices. Each match lasts approximately 90 minutes. The players begin with a warm-up and then move to individual skills challenges that include dribbling, passing, and shooting. The skill challenges allow each player to develop at his or her own pace and developmental level. The players are then divided by size and skill level and small-sided games are played. This is then followed by penalty kicks for all of the players.
The design of the program will group players according to areas of ability and players will not be assigned to specific teams. All players will have the same color jersey and be on the same team – “the lions.” Players will then be grouped into pools, and these groupings will change from week to week. Players will be given different game vests each week for small-sided matches.
INCLUSIVE SOCCER – SOCCER FOR ALL is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by KNVB FC. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, who has a mental or physical disability.
KNVB FC ‘s goal is to take the kids off the sidelines and allow them to participate in the game of soccer. We want all children to develop a sense of belonging on and off the soccer pitch as well as learn the value of being part of a team, improve their self-esteem, fitness and social skills. But most importantly, enjoy the great game of soccer!
INCLUSIVE SOCCER – SOCCER FOR ALL program at KNVB FC is completely free to all young athletes with disabilities.
Everybody who wants to play soccer should have an opportunity to do so. Our INCLUSIVE SOCCER – SOCCER FOR ALL program is just such a place for players with special abilities/needs.
Our goal is to provide all kids a chance to learn basic soccer skills in a relaxed and fun environment. During the session, players will be paired with a volunteer soccer “Buddy” to work through fun games and skill activities under the direction of a professional trainer. We will start with One Sunday session during the Spring and Fall seasons which last approximately one hour. Players will receive a soccer jersey and an End-of-Season award. All players should dress for the weather, bring a water bottle, a ball, shin guards and a parent.
Sessions will take place once a month…details to follow
